Holy Moly, Rob is going off the deep end! Sometimes I wonder. In the 50 some articles I have written for the Times I finally got it straight. I found out that there is a “New Kid” in town. Hold on to your seats, get a libation and I will take you on a little journey.

Cookie and Jesus (BBQ House) have teamed up to establish a new Canteen which had a soft opening on Sunday December 15th.

Now who is Cookie? He is an experienced bar/restaurant owner that has migrated to our paradise. Cookie and wife Sherrie came here from Texas and being from Texas they are quite familiar with BBQ.

The Cantina will be serving a little different menu at the new place. HOLD ON what do I mean? This place will be adding a twist by introducing Pork Calves and Beef Brisket! You have to try the Pork Calves. I did and WOW is it good! Guess I better tell you the name of this place. “COOKIEZ CANTINA”. It is located on the South East corner of Leon del la Barrera and Guillermo Prieto – 1 1/2 blocks South of the BBQ House.

Cookie will manage the new place with Jesus doing the cooking. BBQ House will still be a separate business and Jesus will continue to cook at the family restaurant.

The hours are 12 p.m. – 12 a.m., 7 days a week. They have several bar areas, stocked with beer and liquor and are equipped like a sports bar. They have a gazillion big screen TVs. Horseshoes, corn hole, pool tables, and live bands on certain nights. Karaoke will be Wednesday evenings starting at 2 p.m. What a neat place to have a good time. I quote Cookie saying, “It is all about good food and fun at the same time”.

I could write about them all day, but I won’t. You need to come and see for yourself. Again, thanks for reading my articles and we will see you there!
