There had been talk of opening another public beach for about a year, but when the City of Puerto Peñasco decided it was time to move, the project came together in record speed.

Almost overnight, it seemed, the parking area, palapas, and soccer field was constructed, and the people followed. I drove through this past weekend and the beach was full of people enjoying the sun, sand, and ocean.

Although our city is surrounded by beaches, and all beaches in Mexico are public domain, there are still several beaches that have limited or no access to the public due to private developments and subdivisions blocking the most direct access. Now, we all have one more public beach with easy access, ample parking, and palapas for shade.

You access Mi Playa Beach by going down Fremont (the road towards Los Conchas) and turning South about 1/2 way between Sinaloa and Josepha Ortiz de Dominguez. You can’t miss the big “Mi Playa” signs like the one shown here.
