It’s a New Year, and our students and staff are excited to begin the first semester of 2026, filled with hope and promise at Escuela de Victoria, the first-ever non-profit private school in Puerto Peñasco, committed to ensuring that local children with disabilities are able to reach their potential and thrive.
In 2021, we opened our multidisciplinary therapy clinic serving disabled children in Puerto Peñasco. Then, thanks to a wonderful partnership with Victory Foundation in Arizona, in August of 2024, we were able to open the first-ever private special education school in this community.
Escuela de Victoria uses evidence-based teaching practices to enhance student learning and achievement.
Students go on field trips to connect classroom lessons with practical, real-world settings. Our December field trip was to the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and the Schuk Toak Museum. Visiting this UNESCO World Heritage Site and learning about the biosphere reserve was a fascinating learning adventure for the kids.

Our therapy clinic and special education school are very specialized programs that are expensive to operate. Unfortunately, many hard-working local families cannot afford to pay privately for the professional support their children desperately need to develop to their full potential. Fortunately, at Fundacion Educarte we are committed to serving disabled young people regardless of their parent’s ability to pay. But we need your support. Some ways you can help:
Donate to support the critical work our team is doing through one of our websites. Amigoseducarte.org or fundacioneducarte.com.mex
Drop by our booth at Mermaids Market. Enjoy live music performed by local volunteer, Tim Bertsch, and show your appreciation. If you like the music, drop a little something in the box. All proceeds go directly to the kids.
Buy a Raffle Ticket. Cost is $30 (U.S) for a chance to win a cash prize of over $5800 (US). Thanks to the generosity of our patrons, The Duncan Family and Chad Cloward, we can offer additional prizes. These include a 4 day/3-night stay at a beachfront home in Las Conchas, and a 3 day/2-night stay in a beachfront condominium on Sandy Beach. Supporters can also choose to purchase a ticket to donate to a local family, giving them a chance to win!
Give the gift of time. We are looking for volunteers. If you want to learn more about what we do and how you can help, please email Tracy at tabertsch2007@gmail.com. Projects include:
Regular Saturday Respite – we need volunteers to help facilitate fun and engaging activities for students on specific Saturdays. Educarte staff would oversee activities, while volunteers would play a vital role in giving parents a well-deserved respite from caring for their children with disabilities.

Painting the Chicken Coop – we are teaching our students to care for chickens and gather eggs for sale. The coop needs a refresh!

Garden Project – One of the items on our wish list is teaching our students about how food is grown and makes its way to our table. It would be cool to get CETMAR and 1 Mission students involved in helping us with a garden project!
