Are you looking for a worthwhile and rewarding way to spend some of your time here in Puerto Peñasco? Can you spare a couple – or even a few – hours a month? Do you enjoy helping others? Would you like to have fun while doing it?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then Empty Bowls–Puerto Peñasco could be the perfect outlet for you! We are an all-volunteer group of people who live in Peñasco, either full- or part-time, who pool our time and talents to raise funds to help address hunger in our community. And we are always looking for more volunteers. We are a “grassroots” organization, growing and stretching and learning from the diversity of the unique talents and skills of many. We have volunteers of all ages, talents, and abilities, and we are sure you would fit right in!
We started with the original “gang of six” just over two years ago and have grown to the point where we are now able to provide staple foods to more than 100 of our neighbors in need every month of the year. We work with the local food bank and DIF to help reach those who need assistance.
Throughout the year, we hold several smaller FUNdraisers, as well as our big annual event – the Professional Chefs Soup Cook-Off – held each November on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. And we truly do know how to put the FUN in FUNdraising!

In future news, we would like to invite everyone out to Zay’s on May 16th for their 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off, benefitting Empty Bowls this year. Come on out and help them kick off what is sure to be a fabulously delicious tradition and help out your neighbors at the same time. After all, we are all just neighbors helping neighbors!
