The first Mermaid’s Market was held back in December of 2012. With just a handful of artists, it was a rather small event. The home of the Mermaid’s Market for all of these years since has been the “Shrimp Park” Plaza – located at a perfect intersection that is centrally located in town.

The event has grown organically over the past ten years. The Mermaid’s Market is now a favorite event for shopping, a morning coffee, bakery item, Bloody Maria, a quick lunch, an afternoon drink, a bit more shopping, some entertainment and meeting up with friends – or just enjoying the park’s “open air market” atmosphere.

This eleventh season of the Mermaid’s Market returns with many of your favorite artists, artisans and creators along with new “Mermaids” (as the vendors are called). At every market, you will find the latest, new creations and “Mermaid Treasures” from the 30+ “mermaid” arts and crafts vendors!

This season, the Cultivarte group with their African-style drums & dance will be performing at the beginning of the noon hour. Of course, besides shopping, you will want to enjoy a signature Mermaid Margarita (with seasonal specialty flavors such as November’s Apple Pie Margarita) or an ice-cold beer. And, there are great lunch choices! El Menche Tamales, Rocky BBQ House with their famous ribs and pork, and other artisanal delights. Plus, fresh bakery and dessert items to take home.

The Mermaid’s Market works diligently with the local administration to present these events for our community. This season the organizers of the Mermaid’s Market are happy to be working with Puerto Peñasco’s Municipal Institute of Culture and Art (IMCA) to continue presenting the Mermaid’s Market to the community. They are confident that the local community will continue to support this fantastic & fun local art market.

See you there!
