We love October! This month marks the beginning of Rocky Point’s “season” as the weather breaks, people pour back into town after a hot, humid summer and our events start to stack one on top of the other. This month also marks the return of our seasonal Mermaid’s Market down at the Shrimp Shrine Park and the return of events such as the Hobie Cat Piñata Regatta, Santa Claud Club Cornhole Tournament and the highly anticipated Charanga Soapbox Derby in El Mirador. The Derby is so much fun and has become a must-attend event. Another event that has gained a lot of popularity in the past few years is Rodeo Drive’s Dia de Los Muertos celebration which lasts two days. Stroll the drive, enjoy Peñasco’s perfect weather and take in the elaborate altars, decorated shops and fantastic costumes. You can also enjoy the parade, costume contest, live music and dancing. Check out the Events Calendar in every edition for more events this month.

I called the Lukeville Port of Entry toward the end of September, and they informed me that the extended 10PM Friday border closure time was for summer only and would not be extended. Of course, this is subject to change at any time and if it does we’ll be sure to post it on our socials. As of now, the border is open 7 days a week from 6AM to 8PM.

Next month is a big month for Puerto Peñasco with the Annual Rocky Point Motorcycle Rally which takes place over Veteran’s Day Holiday Weekend and then Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend – not to count all of the events in-between. There will be lots of traffic these next couple months so please plan accordingly, pack snacks and water and drive safely!

Have a super fun October and see you at the beach!
