September was another wonderful month for Empty Bowls Puerto Peñasco, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who came out to support our mission of helping local families facing food insecurity.

Our 2nd Annual Beach Burger Bash at The Playa Inn/Gatos Bar was a tremendous success! It was an evening filled with great food, laughter, fun, and, most importantly, community spirit. The delicious burgers generously donated and expertly grilled up by SR Angus were a huge hit, and the refreshing gelato from La Heladería, generously provided by Uno Mas, was the perfect treat. Guests enjoyed the pool, raffles, Empty Bowls merchandise, and an exclusive VIP steak dinner. We even added a special “Date Night” Last Person Standing Auction, making for an evening that truly had something for everyone. It was definitely a night to remember!

But while we enjoyed a little summer fun, our Empty Bowls volunteers are already hard at work preparing for our biggest fundraiser of the year – the 3rd Annual Professional Chef Soup Cook-Off! Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 28th – the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

If you have never attended our annual Soup Cook-Off, you are truly missing out! Some of Puerto Peñasco’s best professional chefs will be serving up their signature soups, and attendees will have the opportunity to sample all twelve delicious creations and choose their favorites. And the soup is just the beginning! There will be spectacular entertainment, an exciting Silent Auction featuring exclusive offerings, raffles, and plenty of great Empty Bowls merchandise. Most importantly, every cup of soup and every dollar raised helps make a difference right here in our community. The success of this event helps provide the resources we need to continue supporting our neighbors who struggle with food insecurity throughout the coming year.

As we head into our biggest event of the year, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the wonderful community of Puerto Peñasco. Empty Bowls is a grassroots, all-volunteer organization, and we simply could not do what we do without the generosity, encouragement, and participation of this community. Every ticket purchased, bowl donated, volunteer hour given, raffle ticket bought, and donation made helps us continue our work. You have shown us again and again that you understand what Empty Bowls is really about: Neighbors helping neighbors. Thank you, Puerto Peñasco, for helping us fill more than bowls – you help us fill a very real need in our community.
