After a few years of pause the Art Walk event will return to Puerto Peñasco for its 5th edition. This event will take place on Saturday, December 30th from 2 pm to 7 pm.

Its name derives from the idea of gathering a few places in the Old Port and, in each place, a local artist or group of artists would display their paintings, giving visitors the opportunity to walk along the streets, meet the artists and learn a little bit more about their work, technique, media, etc. all adding more value to the artwork which we hope will become part of their decoration or an addition to their collection.

The Art Walk took place back in 2016 when a group of local artists was approached by Adelaida del Real who has a long career as promoter of art and artists. She suggested the creation of a “space” where artists from Puerto Peñasco could display their creations with the intention to sell their works of art and show visitors and art lovers alike the large variety of paintings the city has to offer.

Puerto Peñasco is fortunate to have a lot of local talent when it comes to artists who paint utilizing different techniques and media and within this group you may find renown artists like Jose Pastor, Zacarias Paez and Julieta Olalde who have won biennale awards and recognitions.

Members of this group are:

Gabriela Solis, long-time resident of Old Port whose seascapes adorn more than 500 homes and condominiums in town.

Manuel M. Peña, who features an unusual technique of painting with natural sand of different colors – natural colors without adding paint. Manuel also acted as promoter, on three occasions when he gathered a group of artists and took their artwork to be exhibited in France. The first exhibition took place in 2016 at the Gallery Metanoia in Paris. The theme of this exhibition was the Virgin of Guadalupe. The second exhibition was the first edition of the International Sacred Art Festival in Senlis, France in 2019 where more than 199 artists from different nations participated. In that exhibition, one of the paintings from this group won one of the six awards and recognitions presented by the organizers. And the third exhibition took place in 2021 during the second edition of the International Sacred Art Festival but this time in Compiegne, France. In each of those three exhibitions a group of about 20 artists participated. Some of them will be present during this 5th edition of the Art Walk in the Old Port.

Valery Mireles, another artist who has adopted the technique of painting with sand.

Mario Perez, who exhibits his peculiar technique – a combination of cubism and abstract.

Gloria Nuñez, who has 19 years of experience as a muralist and art teacher and who has painted and exhibited internationally.

Izrael Rios, uses an airbrush technique which is unique within the group. He participated in Senlis, France exhibition of Sacred Art.

Garzon Masabo, is a Cuban artist living in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico who has exhibited internationally and participated in the previous 4 editions of the Old Port Art Walk in Puerto Peñasco.

Yuvid Castro recently graduated from the school of arts in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico and is repeating her participation in this event.

Francisco Orihuela will be participating with artwork made of wood.

Denisse Ruiz, Daeli Luna and Denisse Fonseca are other nouvelle artists participating for the first time in this year’s edition of the Art Walk.

Photography is also part of this exhibition. Photographers Diana Caballero, Javier Hernandez, Jorge Ramirez, Mickey Espinosa, Socorro Gonzalez Barajas y Annie Cota will be presenting their work. Annie Cota´s photo “Comcáac” was exhibited in Senlis, France.

The participating venues are from south to north: Viña del Mar Hotel, Café del Puerto, Leo’s Bar, Patio del Arte, Friendly Dolphin Restaurant, Rocky Point Gallery and Patrizia Concept Store.

We invite you to join us for a beautiful evening of strolling through Old Port and meeting a variety of very talented artists.
