“The Legion by the Sea”

¡Bienvenidos todos!

Feliz Navidad, amigos! December is here; with all the holiday cheer it can hold. The post is buzzing as we prepare for another great Christmas season. As usual, there is our annual toy and food drive, as well as the shoe and sock drive.

For those of you who want to contribute to make our neighbors’ Christmas a bit brighter here in our little corner of paradise, please consider a donation of a toy, or toys (something for a young boy, girl or for either, unwrapped and less than $20 US apiece, please) or a pair, or several pairs, of shoes and socks. All donations are welcome…and needed!

There are boxes set up (boy, girl, either, shoes, and socks) at the post to receive your donations. We will have a ‘wrapping party’ as the holiday draws closer (check with the post or our Facebook page for the exact date), and on Christmas morning, we will caravan from the post at 9:00 a.m., following Santa into the neighborhoods to distribute the gifts.

As is also usual, donations of non-perishable foods are welcome, too! The food will also be bagged and distributed when we go to the neighborhoods on Christmas Day. We’ll be returning to the post around noon to have a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings!

This New Year’s Eve will be Casino Night and, since it is our post’s 25th Anniversary, the celebration will be even more outstanding! We plan to have table games and to watch the ball drop in New York City (10:00 p.m. our time). So, please keep an eye on our Facebook page for further details, or stop by the post for updated information.

You won’t want to miss our New Year’s Day celebration. There will be lots of food & football!!

As you can see, Post 15 will be a busy place this December, but never too busy to welcome new guests and members!! So come on over and enjoy the fun. Of course, the usual diversions at the post are still available: Bingo, Karaoke, and Pool (both swimming [for those who can stand the cold water] and billiards!) are ongoing. The kitchen is hopping too, providing great meals at very reasonable prices and, as always, the beer is cold as are the cocktails!

Remember, too, that the Legion provides mail service from Lukeville to Peñasco on a weekly basis. The service is the cheapest in town at $20.00 a month, $60.00 a quarter, and a free month for an annual subscription. Also, there is a $10 per package charge for items too large to fit in your mail box.

You can watch all the football you can stand with three screens…and an ocean view at the post, too! So, if you’re in town, stop by the Post for a cold one and enjoy the camaraderie that our post is famous for! Remember; you do not have to be a veteran or an American Legion Member to enjoy the post! We hope to see you there!
