This summer, Fundación Educarte celebrated a milestone that extends far beyond caps and diplomas. Nine remarkable young adults graduated from our TVA program, each reaching an important chapter in their journey toward greater independence, confidence, and community participation.
While graduation is a moment of celebration, it is also the beginning of what comes next. At Educarte, the goal has always been to prepare students not only for the classroom, but for meaningful participation in everyday life. This year, seven graduates have already taken that next step by joining one of the Foundation’s vocational training programs, where they are building practical job skills while serving the Puerto Peñasco community.
Learning Through Real-World Experience
Students participating in the El Bazar are gaining hands-on experience in retail operations, merchandising, inventory management, customer service, and teamwork. Working alongside the shop manager, they are learning what it takes to create welcoming shopping experiences while developing valuable workplace skills that will serve them well into the future.
Others have been selected to join El Comedero Azul, Fundación Educarte’ s community restaurant, where they have completed extensive training before stepping into their new roles. Open Mon.-Sat., 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for breakfast and lunch. El Comedero Azul gives students the opportunity to practice taking orders, greeting guests, clearing tables, communicating confidently, and delivering exceptional customer service in a real restaurant environment.
Every interaction becomes an opportunity to strengthen communication, responsibility, problem-solving, and independence. These daily experiences help transform classroom learning into lifelong skills.
Your Visit Makes a Difference
Whether you’re a local resident or visiting Puerto Peñasco for the weekend, you can become part of these students’ success stories simply by stopping in for a meal.
Join us for a hearty breakfast or delicious lunch at El Comedero Azul, where every order supports vocational training while encouraging students as they continue building confidence through meaningful work. Your patience, encouragement, and friendly conversation become part of their education.
What else can you do to support our mission? We invite you to experience Mercado Azul
Make plans to visit Mercado Azul, now open every weekend from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., where the entire family can enjoy an evening filled with local flavor and community spirit. Located right at Fundación Educarte’s facilities.
Browse a growing collection of local vendors offering handmade products, clothing, accessories, gifts, and artisan goods. Wander through our lively food row featuring authentic Mexican cuisine, refreshing beverages, trendy desserts, sweet treats, burgers, and something delicious for every member of the family.
More than a marketplace, Mercado Azul is a celebration of entrepreneurship, inclusion, and community. Every purchase supports local small businesses while helping create meaningful vocational opportunities for young adults with disabilities.
Building an Inclusive Community Together
At Fundación Educarte, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, contribute, and thrive. Thanks to the continued support of families, visitors, volunteers, and community partners, our graduates are proving that with the right opportunities, abilities shine.
As these nine graduates begin this exciting new chapter, we invite residents of the Puerto Peñasco community and visitors to celebrate with them, not only by applauding their accomplishments, but by becoming part of their journey.
We look forward to welcoming you to Comedero Azul for breakfast or lunch and to Mercado Azul for an evening of shopping, great food, and community. Together, we’re creating a future where inclusion isn’t simply taught; it is experienced every day.
