On November 30th, 2024 EMPTY BOWLS PUERTO PEÑASCO had the honor of holding its first annual event at the American Legion Post MX 15. There were over 300 attendees and almost 400 tickets were sold in advance and at the door.
All who attended enjoyed a wonderful time sampling a dozen different soups provided by local restaurants, pastries for sale from local bakeries/restaurants, and beautiful music from Los Guapos Locos. There were tons of door prizes, as well as a bevy of Silent Auction prizes. And a good time was had by all. Check out our website for all the great photos!
But most importantly we are proud to say that with the proceeds from the event we anticipate being able to provide staple foods for nutritionally challenged families in Puerto Peñasco for at least most of the coming year. We provided staple foods in December and January for 100 families as you can see from the submitted photos. And we are currently in talks with the local Banco Alimentos Puerto Peñasco Food Bank to consider a partnership where Empty Bowls will provide funds through our fundraising efforts to the food bank to help support needy families in Puerto Peñasco each month moving forward.
Empty Bowls will be holding additional fundraising events throughout the year to help with these fundraising efforts. We have one coming up on March 22nd that promises to be fun for everyone…our 1st Annual Amateur Soup Cook-Off! Advanced tickets will be available on our website or by stopping in at The Turquoise Door in the Plaza de San Miguel on Avenida Sinaloa and Calle Manuel Arista. Check our website and Facebook page for additional information on this and other events coming up. Please also consider volunteering yourself with our events and/or at the food bank. We are neighbors helping neighbors.
