EMPTY BOWLS has been BUSY lately! After our first Amateur Soup Contest was so successful in March, we decided we needed to get busy again right away, so we held our very successful annual Fish Fry at the American Legion, Post 15. Huge “thanks” to everyone who came out to support us, or volunteered to help make this event so successful.

We are so happy that because we live in such a great place with so many caring people, Empty Bowls is able to make donations each month thru Banco de Alimentos Puerto Peñasco that provides staple foods to over 100 vetted families. If you know a local family in need please have them go sign up for help thru DIF or contact one of us at Empty Bowls by emailing (emptybowlspuertopenasco@gmail.com or thru our website at www.emptybowls-puertopenasco.com) so we can assist them in getting signed up for staple food bundles.

We have more fundraisers coming in the next few months, with the next one on July 24th (National Tequila Day) when we hold our Tacos and Tequila FUNdraiser at The Pink Cadillac Restaurant from 4-7pm. $10 gets you a plate of 3 tacos with all the fixin’s, and there will be $1 shots of tequila! We will also have a 50/50 raffle as well as an Empty Bowls merch for sale with fun aprons, recipe cards from our Amateur Soup Contest, decorative hand painted sand dollars, and of course, bowls. It wouldn’t be an Empty Bowls event without bowls for sale! And be sure to wear your bathing suit as the pool and swim-up bar is open and the water feels great!

I also heard a rumor that there will be a BBQ and Ice Cream Social coming up in September, so be sure to follow us on Facebook (emptybowlspuertopenasco) or watch our website (www.emptybowls-puertopenasco.com) to find out the date and details of this event.

Again, we just want to give a huge hug and thank you to everyone who has been so generous in supporting us on our mission to address hunger in Puerto Peñasco. Without all of you, donors and volunteers, we would not be so successful in our fundraising endeavors. And it truly does take a village to fill all of the empty bowls here in our beautiful little town.
