For 15 years, Compassion Without Borders (CWOB), an international animal welfare non-profit in Northern California, has been transforming lives in Rocky Point, Mexico. Our work focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable animals while preventing homelessness and suffering through essential services like veterinary care and free spay/neuter surgeries at our clinic, Clínica Esperanza. With our new facility, Home for Hope, opening soon, CWOB will have an even greater impact, creating brighter futures for animals in need and the families who care for them.

Our Mission and Roots

CWOB was founded in 2001 by Moncho Camblor, a native of Mexico, and his wife, Dr. Christi Camblor, a veterinarian, who share a deep commitment to helping underserved animals. Driven by a belief that no one—animal or human—should be denied care due to financial hardship, CWOB has pioneered international animal rescue and provides vital services to animals and families in Rocky Point.

Clínica Esperanza: A Lifeline for Animals and Families

Our free clinic, Clínica Esperanza, provides over 6,000 animals annually with spay/neuter surgeries and wellness services. For many families, this clinic is the only accessible source of veterinary care, crucial for maintaining their pets’ health. By preventing unwanted litters, these surgeries help curb animal overpopulation and strengthen the bond between pets and families.

Rescue and Rehabilitation: Giving Animals a Second Chance

In addition to Clínica Esperanza, CWOB runs a shelter and a puppy orphanage in Rocky Point, offering animals in need medical care, love, and a safe place to recover. Our rescue efforts prioritize animals at risk—those suffering from injuries, malnutrition, or illness. Once they’re healthy, animals are placed in loving homes locally or through CWOB’s shelter in Northern California.

The Dream Becomes Reality: Home for Hope

This March, CWOB’s vision will come true with the opening of Home for Hope, a brand-new shelter and clinic. This state-of-the-art facility will provide expanded resources, upgraded medical equipment, and increased capacity, allowing us to rescue and care for more animals than ever before. Home for Hope will feature designated recovery spaces, expanded kennels, and modern veterinary equipment, ensuring animals receive top-quality care in a supportive environment. This expansion also means broader rescue efforts and a greater ability to find loving homes for animals.

A Center for Learning and Advocacy

Home for Hope will not only offer direct care but also serve as a training center for veterinary and animal welfare professionals across Latin America. By sharing our knowledge, we aim to empower others to create positive change in their communities. Training programs will cover spay/neuter techniques, shelter management, and outreach strategies, fostering compassion and responsibility for animals throughout the region.

As we prepare to open Home for Hope, CWOB is more dedicated than ever to its mission of brighter futures for animals in need. Home for Hope represents resilience and compassion, a testament to the power of kindness and a promise to continue fighting for animals—one life at a time.
