The theme for Rotary International this year is “lmagine” and Maria Conchita Peralta Melgar is the 2022-2023 president of the Rotary Club Mar de Peñasco. Maria’s term began on July 1st. The most recent activity of our club was a free dental clinic. For the 12th time, under the leadership of Dr. Roy Bryant the “Wings of Love” group performed more than 300 dental services from June 29th to July 1st for the people of Puerto Peñasco.
For 3 consecutive days, the “Wings of Love” group with almost 40 service providers, including dental specialists and participating students from Roseman University in Utah, managed to cater to 316 people with various dental needs. The services including cleaning, filling, and extractions as well as instruction on good dental hygiene practices for both children and adults.
President Maria extended her gratitude to Dr. Bryant and all of his great team for the work done. “What a fabulous opportunity we had to start the new Rotary year with this Dental Day”.
This journey conducted “Wings of Love” in conjunction with the Rotary Club Mar de Peñasco for the last 8 years, and several occasions up to twice a year, was held at the facilities generously provided by the Church to Jesus Christ of the Saints of the Last Days.
This year our Rotary Club will be sponsoring four exchange students. They will be heading out this next school year to spend time in different countries. Rotary has been involved in exchange programs for many years. We also welcome and support students when they come from other countries to spend the school year in Puerto Peñasco. These exchange programs are so successful in building goodwill and understanding in the youth that participate in these programs; they gain so much. We will have a student from Brazil attending CIMA school this year. I am already practicing my Portuguese!
