Buh-bye September…Hello October! Oh, I sure hope the weather breaks early this month so we can fully enjoy all the events that are starting to happen this month – tis the start of the season! Check out our Events Page in every edition and if you are on social media, you can check out our Facebook Page for those last-minute events that always pop up. We look forward to The Mermaid’s Market starting back up this month – always fun to check out local artisans, vendors and grab some great grub. There will be another great wine pairing dinner at Infusion del Golfo Restaurant at Laguna Shores Resort on October 22nd. These events are always great – local restaurants are introducing more and more wineries from Valle de Guadalupe, which is exciting for us wine lovers. Mare Blu had an event as well last month, but unfortunately, I was out of town when Julio, Sr., the owner, sent me the invite. We did post it online so hopefully some of you got to go and enjoy the evening. I look forward to many more this coming season.

At the beginning of this month Encántame had the kick-off party for their new development, Encántame Soleil so I’ll tell you all about that in November. Oh, and don’t forget that over the holiday weekend this month our Lukeville/Sonoyta border crossing has extended hours on Friday, October 7th and Monday, October 10th.

Big news last month was Hurricane/Tropical Storm Kay smacking Puerto Peñasco with high winds and a fair amount of rain right when we were having an extreme high tide. She caused lots of damage to restaurants along the Malecon in the Old Port, wiping out walkways and oceanside patios, as well as knocking down seawalls in Las Conchas and even redesigning the landscape of many beachfront communities. Our roofs leaked; our yards flooded as did our streets which means lots of the potholes have returned so be careful when driving around town. We even lost some chunks of Highway in neighboring towns. Yikes! We’ve actually had a fair amount of rain over the last two months which is always a blessing, and a curse.

The Rotary’s Annual Polio Fundraising Dinner is supposed to be held later this month, but as of this writing the date hadn’t been shored up so call our office, check our social media or contact any member of the Rotary Club. It was a lot of fun last year – great turnout and a fun event for a great cause.

Next month is the 21st Rocky Point Motorcycle Rally…YAY! So much fun and so much to do for four days! Hard to believe that this is the 21st Annual! Such a fantastic fundraising event that brings thousands and thousands of bikers, from all over the world, to Rocky Point. If you don’t ride – it is a great spectating event – great sights along the Malecon and on Calle 13 for the more adventurous nightlife crowd. Actually, all over town! The event takes place over the holiday weekend so the Lukeville/Sonoyta border will be open until 10PM on Friday, November 11th and Monday, November 14th. Make your reservations if you haven’t yet!

Here’s to a great October, cooler weather, lots of fun events and seeing you at the beach!!
