Feliz Mayo Rocky Point! It has been an absolutely amaze balls April with our weather…just perfecto! WOW…what a SPRING BREAK crowd in town. How wonderful to see all of the businesses overflowing with revelers and all the “happy” people bee bopping around town. I even heard of someone…ummm…maybe me…who got a bit lodged in his sunroof while hanging out cruising down Calle 13 through all the mayhem. I had the pleasure of entertaining my Goddaughter and niece, Tori as she came to Rocky Point for the first time. We had a blast and really tried to make it to as many places as possible but…our little shrimping village has become a DESTINATION now with so many options for fun, food, spirits, activities and of course THE BEACH. I thought it would be cool to get Tori’s reaction to Peñasco as it was her first time here…
Marco~ Welcome to Rocky Point! Tell us a bit about you Tori.
Tori~ Well, I am originally from New Jersey and went to the University of Delaware where I live now and have been for the last 18 years. I have always loved the beach. When I was growing up, my family had a beach home in Cape May, New Jersey so I got to enjoy it often. Recently, I decided to come see my Uncle Marco, so we met at his Scottsdale home and then we drove on down to Rocky Point.
Marco~ And what an adventure it was…who knew that the speed limit was not 93?!! Always best, to travel near the speed limit for the safety of everyone 😊. Have you been to Mexico before?
Tori~ Yes, I have been to Cozumel, Cancun and Playa Del Carmen but I have never been to the Sea of Cortez or the Pacific side of Baja California and the rest of Mexico.
Marco~ What were your first thoughts of Rocky Point?
Tori~ I thought the topography was really unique as we drove through the desert, the mountains and then ultimately the sea. It really is amazing that you are driving through the desert for so long and then suddenly you are at the ocean! It is quite dramatic!
Marco~ Speaking of dramatic, what happened to me in the sunroof?!
Tori~ In pure Marco fashion, we had the music blasting and singing along down Calle 13 and Marco took it to the next level and was hanging out the sunroof and doing some car dancing. Then, all of sudden, CRACK! It took 3 of us to try and fix it but at least we got it semi-shut.
Marco~ OMG, in deed. Yes, I can get a tad carried away from time to time! Thankfully, the sunroof was under warranty, and all is back to go 😊! What were some of your favorite things about Rocky Point?
Tori~ I like chilling on the balcony and watching the ocean and seeing the dolphins come by. I definitely really loved the views of the ocean and sleeping with the doors open and hearing the ocean waves. The sleeping weather was great…a couple times I just put the ceiling fan on, and it was perfect. It was also super nice meeting all of the locals as we went around town.
Marco~ What were some of your favorite restaurants and bars?
Tori~ Leo’s specialty drinks were great! I would just tell them the flavor I was looking for and they knew how to mix it up and they were delicious! I liked the bartenders and servers at Marea…they were so nice and fun! Banditos was a blast with good food and music. I also loved the pico de gallo at El Capitan.
Marco~ Yes, and the views are not bad from up there as well! What do you think of the Mexican culture compared to America?
Tori~ Well, it’s a hell of a lot more relaxed in Mexico. I really like the Mexican food and family vibe. Plus, you can get away with a lot in Mexico.
Marco~ Oh, I wouldn’t know about that…LOL! When do you plan to come back?
Tori~ As soon as the sunroof is fixed…HA!!! Thank you to Ronnie as well for his entertainment and helping to show me the spots and introducing me to his friends. I look forward to seeing his new home.
Marco~ In deed, I bet it is way cool. Anything else you want the Rocky Point Times readers to know about you?
Tori~ I may have been drugged! No, seriously I really enjoyed my time by the beach and hanging with so many new friends and my family of course. I love exploring other cultures, so I plan to return as soon as possible…oh and a shout out to Cathy Pea…she decorated your condo so nice!
Marco~ Awww, thank you and yes, she has worked hard on it! Thank you and I cannot wait to see you soon in Mexico!
As Lauren Myracle put it… “You will love the ocean. It makes you feel small, but not in a bad way. Small because you realize your part of something bigger!” So have at its Rocky Point! The water temps are perfect right now and it is time to enjoy your beautiful sea!
ADIOS AMIGOS
GOD BLESS
Marco
