A new year, and lots going on at the post. After hosting the Bike Week Barbecue, the Legion Riders decided to do a ride to El Golfo. After all, dodging potholes has become a sport of some renown here in Sonora. The problem is that if you ride a trike, the dodging is severely restrictive and dangerous, so easy does it a ‘go slow’ are the orders of the day.

As usual, the bingo games, pool tournaments, and karaoke nights keep rolling along and are well attended (especially the bingo games!). The Post 15 had a big hand in helping out the Empty Bowls charity as well, in addition to providing libations to the attendees, and a cool place to sit out of the sun.

Toys for tots and food for the needy charities were well sponsored too, and the Legion made a large donation of toys, as we do every year, to the local children for La Navidad!

Now, jumping ahead to February, I’m told the legion will be having a Valentine’s Day surf and turf dinner at the Post. I mentioned to Danny, our facilities manager, that we should also get a band and have a dance. I don’t know if that will happen, but it might!

If you are a veteran, or just looking for a fun way to spend some time and whet your whistle, come on over to the American Legion Post 15 where you are always welcome!
