Each and every weekend, we hit the road and bring our precious dogs to adoption events all over the state. The dogs love a good road trip, and it’s hilarious to see how excited they get for their weekly rides in the car…they know they’re going someplace where they will be showered with visitors, belly rubs, and lots of treats!
We’ve been to farmers’ markets, where the dogs attract big crowds! We’ve enjoyed happy hours at Cien Agave and Nando’s Mexican Cafe. We’ve taken our canine road warriors to Scorpion Harley Davidson. We’ve done a ton of doggie yoga! Scottsdale based pet store “The Fetching Dog” has hosted some super fun adoption events, complete with photo booths and homemade dog treats! We make regular appearances at PetSmart & Twin Tails Cageless Grooming. We’ve traveled as far North as Flagstaff, and as far South as Tucson! We’ve got two events in Prescott in May. You get the idea…we’re all over the place, and we want you to come see us in AZ!
These weekend adoption events are possible thanks to our simply spectacular foster families who help us get dogs to each adoption extravaganza, our volunteers who, over and over again, show up to help, and our two dedicated, dog loving, superstar Arizona employees. Tiffany & Lili are absolute treasures, and a beautiful addition to our Barb’s Dog Rescue family. We simply could not do our work in Arizona without them, and we hope you’ll stop by an event near you to meet these two amazing young women! Tiff & Lili are the reason we’ve been able to adopt a whopping 150+ dogs to loving Arizona families since beginning this adoption event adventure in July 2024!
There’s been another wonderful thing that’s come out of our Arizona endeavors, and it’s centered around the opportunity we’ve been given to spread the word about our work. We’ve met so many supportive people who have taken an interest in our life-saving efforts in Puerto Peñasco, and being able to tell folks about our big, beautiful rescue just 50 miles over the Lukeville border has resulted in a heightened awareness of the plight of the Mexico dogs.
The search for a permanent brick & mortar location is ongoing; we are hopeful that we will find the perfect “sister location” in AZ, but for now, these events have brought our team and our dog’s abundant joy.
In addition to several Valley area events in May, we will be making two stops in Prescott; on May 18, catch us at The Barley Hound for dog yoga and adoptions, and on May 31st, at Prescott’s annual “Woofstock” event. You can find our complete event calendar on our website, www.barbsdogrescue.org.
A couple of final announcements: Phoenix-owned Santisi Brothers is fundraising for BDR! Order their special “Sauce By Giovanni” at https://santisibrothers.store, use code BARBSDOGS, and they will donate 100% (yes, all of their proceeds), to BDR. It’s good stuff!
The Why Not Travel Store continues to partner with BDR and is an official food drop-off/pick-up location. If you have more than 50 lbs. of dry food, or more than five cases of wet food to donate to BDR (the legal limit per vehicle), it can be dropped off at Why Not for another traveler to bring. When you’re headed to Rocky Point, stop by the store to see if there’s anything that needs to make its way down to the dogs!
As always, we appreciate your donations of supplies, towels and blankets, toys, beds, leashes, harnesses, treats, and all things DOG! Come by the rescue anytime, drop off a donation, and best of all, fall in love with your new best friend!
