St. Joseph’s chapel in La Cholla enjoyed a visit by Monseñor Francisco Moreno Barrón, from the archdiocese of Tijuana last month.

During that visit, the Bishop toured the church for the first time, seeing the progress that has been made since 2014 when Mass was first offered in what was then a cinder block shell with no windows or doors.

He spoke with the ley ministers of St. Joseph’s, commending them on their service to God, the church and the community; then blessed the residence which was built behind the church for Pastor Padre Marco Lopez.

The residence was completed last summer, and includes a separate bedroom and bath for occasions when the bishop or other clergy visit.

Bilingual Mass is offered every Sunday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s. The scripture readings, hymns and sermon are presented in both English and Spanish and prayers books are available in both languages.

To reach the church, take the paved road past the Sandy Beach resorts and the dirt road past Wrecked at the Reef. As you wind your way toward Cholla Bay, the church is on the right and clearly marked. All are welcome.
