For the fourth year running, the Old Boys Social Club of La Choya hosted a breakfast for members of the Puerto Peñasco Police Department, their children and various city government officials, on January 6 at the Community Center.
The annual breakfast was conceived by Gerry Caballero, who has been actively involved with the OBSC and the Lions Club of Puerto Peñasco for many years. This year more than 80 people enjoyed sausage and eggs, pancakes, beans and tortillas, and at least 150 cups of coffee.
“The event is a way for our little community to let the officers know how much we appreciate their service to Rocky Point and to Choya,” said OBSC President Harry Luker. “It’s also a way for us to get to know the officers and officials.”
The event is in honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day which was January 6 and because of the Kings’ Day holiday, more officers were off duty and free to attend.
The OBSC has been in existence for decades and was formed purely to have fun events for the community. When events produce a profit, the club makes donations to various local charities.
Membership in the OBSC is open to everyone, Choya and beyond, or individuals can participate in the events as guests. For more information, or to join the club, go to www.oldboyssocialclub.com.
