Barb’s Dog Rescue isn’t your standard shelter – not even close. Our dogs live in roomy group enclosures where they can stretch, run, nap in the sun, and play with their buddies. Every day includes supervised playtime in our massive dog park (yes, it’s as big as people say!) or one of our other outdoor spaces. Visitors are always amazed at how joyful and social the dogs are. When you come by, one of our amazing staff members will greet you at the gate…and the four-legged welcoming committee will take it from there! Pro tip: pants, closed-toe shoes, and a long-sleeved shirt make it easier to handle the avalanche of happy paws and puppy teeth that will be coming your way.
Barb’s Dog Rescue is an Arizona-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We receive no government funding of any kind and no corporate or government grants. Every life we save is possible only because of people like you. Most of the dogs who arrive at our gates need significant veterinary care – everything from treating tick-borne illness and mange to healing injuries from being hit by cars, severe neglect, and abuse. Your donations make it possible for us to say “yes” to dogs who need us. With nearly 400 dogs on site at any given time, your support also allows us to sustain our dog food supply – we go through about 80 bags of dry food each week, along with dozens of cases of wet food, and daily home-cooked chicken, liver, and rice, made especially for our dogs who need it most.
Our monthly donors truly keep the lights on and the bowls full – they provide the steady foundation that lets us plan ahead and rescue the dogs who need our help.
