¡Feliz Febrero, Rocky Point! What a wonderful start of the year we have shared. Hopefully, everyone had some good moments on New Year’s Eve and into 2026! Wow, it’s even hard to type…2026!!! Thank you so much to Kirsten, Karin, and company for helping organize our New Year’s Eve party at Encantame Resorts. It was super fun, and it was so cool to see the attendance…so many old friends and new friends came out and about, and the dancing was fun, of course. It has been quite a few years…um, like never…That I did cut out about 11 pm and was not there for the bewitching hour of midnight, but it was sure fun! Sometimes, a good night’s sleep is the answer to all! I just returned from a birthday trip with some of the best friends ever, Boldy and Carlos. They had 18 of us fly in from all around to celebrate in New Orleans, Louisiana, for 4 days. Wow, what a blast! I stayed at the Hotel Monteleone again, and if you have never gone, make sure you put the Carousel Bar located right inside the hotel as a must on your list. The bar slowly rotates around as you sit and chat with everyone at the bar, as everyone is there for a great time! The food, music, and bars of Bourbon Street did not disappoint, and it was fun to meet people from all over the planet! I was moderately behaved in New Orleans (trust me, thankfully, there were worse peeps than me), and now I am back to chill for a bit, and shocker (I am a bit late with my article), and get ready for my next getaway in a couple weeks to Tampa, Florida, for Gasparilla. Stay tuned for the update on my next venture. Shout out to my buddy Matt and his fiancée, Alyson, for their upcoming wedding plans in October in Rio De Janeiro! I am definitely in and have always wanted to go to Rio, so look out! Whoop whoop! Another shout out to those that remember Rocky Point’s long time resident Austin (we called him POWERS) for his engagement as well…looks like a trip to Cabo to see him is in order…Miss you POWERS!

With all this love going around and Valentine’s Day upcoming, here’s a list of some things to do for Valentine’s Day for your special someone…and if you don’t have a special someone, make it a friend’s day and surprise a special friend with a special treat from the list. I promise they will always remember!

  1. There are so many delicious restaurants in town, and many offer a special Valentine’s dinner. It is best to call around to your favorites and see what they are offering for a Valentine’s dinner. I would also recommend trying somewhere new if you have not been before. Rocky Point’s restaurant list goes on and on, and you never know until you try…so break out and get out and spoil yourselves.
  2. If you are single, it doesn’t mean that Valentine’s Day is a day spent at home. Gather a group of friends and make it a red themed with dinner and drinks and go have a blast. You may meet your new Valentine…after all, it does fall on a Saturday this year!
  3. Treat yourself to a massage! There are so many fantastic therapeutic massage places around town or simply stroll to the beach. A relaxing massage is always a hit with a loved one or simply by yourself. Relax, rejuvenate, and rejoice! There’s only one YOU!
  4. In our digital world, many thoughts and messages to loved ones go unnoticed or do not stand out simply because the message may be texted, IM’d, emailed, etc. Try making an original card and including a heartfelt message to your loved one. I still have some of these cards that were given to me many moons ago because they impacted me so much!
  5. Create a Valentine’s Day playlist for your loved one. This is extra special as they will remember who put it together for them, and they can always go back and listen to the music down the road. There’s nothing like a great tune that touches the soul!
  6. Surprise them with travel plans to a destination within your budget. We are blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, and even if it is a picnic on the beach together, it will mean so much to be thought of and remembered.
  7. Create a message jar for the final 14 days of February from Valentine’s Day onward. Write a heartfelt note about the reasons why they are so special to you. They can open a message each day for the rest of the month. This way, it’s not just Valentine’s Day…you get to share your love for half a month.
  8. Take a workout class together…there are many options in town, ranging from weights to tennis to pickleball. Even a long stroll on the beach will help your endorphins come alive as you walk in and out of the tides. Remember to stop and find some interesting seashells that you can place into a nice glass jar and have for a keepsake. Each time I take a beach stroll, I come back with some really cool finds.
  9. Try a painting class and create a work of art. We are blessed with some really awesome artists in town, with many of them offering this service. Likewise, try driving or walking to your favorite scenic place in town and taking some cool pics of nature and even yourselves as a remembrance of your special day together.
  10. Take a plunge in the sea…trust me, I know it is a bit brisk, but it is a fun way to awaken your senses and share a special salty treat… the ocean!
  11. Try the Rock, Paper, Scissors Game, where each round the winner gets to decide where you will have a drink before dinner, then where is dinner, then where is dessert, and possibly a nightcap. This will allow you to explore the town a bit while still going to some of your favorite hangouts.
  12. Recreate your first date. This can really be fun…And it brings you back to why they were so special to you from the start. After all, it is all about the love!
  13. Create your own wine tasting event. You each get to buy 2 or 3 bottles of wine each and set up a sampling of them and choose some appetizers from a local restaurant for takeout. Everyone seems to love a wine tasting event, and it can be extra special on Valentine’s Day!
  14. Drop by some Valentine’s Candy to some of the many local charities in town. From kids to the elderly that maybe do not have a Valentine at the moment will be forever grateful. You will never know the memories you will create by a small gesture, just by leaving the candy for those in need.

As we head into SPRING BREAK time and the weather is nicer by the week, CHEERS to everyone for an amazing February and much love to you on Valentine’s Day.

ADIOS AMIGOS

GOD BLESS
Marco}
