I would like to say “Thank You” to the Rocky Point community. The last two years have been a completely unexpected and difficult road for me to travel. I have been in awe at how many friends, acquaintances, artists, and fellow business owners have been ready to support the Mermaid’s Market as I traversed the very complicated process of ensuring that the Market remains a valued event in our community.
“Thank You!” to every visitor! I love that you add the Mermaid’s Market to your weekend’s itinerary! Without you – making purchases large and small – the Market could not be the success that it is.
I cannot fail to mention our “Mermaids” who spend an enormous amount of time Planning and Creating! They set up Inviting & Creative Shopping Spaces! This creates a Vibrant and Colorful, Open-Air Market that is super fun to visit and be a part of each time. Every market finds new Artists and Crafters who create Unique and Diverse Treasures. We have an Expanded bar (Thank You Tony Lake). And many new Artisanal Delicacies – Fudge, Ice Cream, more Desserts & Sweets along with Coffee! Not only this, but you can adopt a new best friend pet or get a restorative massage while you are visiting.
All of you – Visitors and Vendors alike – make the Mermaid’s Market an Event not to miss. At 13 years in the making, it is Rocky Point’s longest running Open-Air Arts and Crafts Market. We are happy to offer you thousands of choices!… All in one location.
However, you may be asking, “What is the Change mentioned in the Title?” Well, the Mermaid’s Market has traditionally been held on the “First and Third Saturdays” of the month. This does not always work well with the changing calendar each year. Every spring we exit the park for the annual Oaxaca Expo which takes over the park for an entire month. Plus, there are other factors which create disadvantages to a strict “First and Third” philosophy.
Going forward, all advertising will read, “On Selected Saturdays”. You will notice immediate changes. This month of March we have three markets scheduled. (We will sneak one last market in before we are out of the park in April.) For May, we will return on the 2nd Saturday, May 10th. And our Season Finale will be held on Saturday, the 24th of May (Memorial Day weekend). Please be sure to follow the Mermaid’s Market on Facebook, Instagram and check the website. www.mermaidsmarket.com.
Mark Your Calendar: The Mermaid’s Market will collaborate with CEDO for an ART & MUSIC event on April 26th at the CEDO property! More information in the April issue.
The Mermaid’s Market exists due to a long-standing relationship with the local DIF office whose purpose is to assist disadvantaged families in our area. I greatly value the support that I now receive from DIF along with the cooperation of the Local City Administration. Muchas Gracias.
You know what we say, “EAT. DRINK. SHOP. SATURDAY.” Please tell your friends and other visitors to Rocky Point. Better yet, bring them with you when you visit! See you there.
