As warmer days make it through our beautiful port, it is suitable to share good news about our community. We are glad to let the Rocky Point community know that the doctors at Servicios Médicos Veterinarios Pets’ Health & Care Center, a local veterinary hospital located on Sonora Blvd. (two blocks down from Josefa Blvd., phone (638) 383 3344), have spent valuable time during the first few months of this year on the pursuit of continuing education and refining medical-technical skills.

First was the yearly tradition of attending the West Veterinary Conference (WVC) in Las Vegas, Nevada for its 96th edition. WVC is one of the most attended veterinary conferences in the U.S. and the world. Full of a great variety and diversity of top-notch international expositors, Dr. Ataulfo León, Dr. Efrain Wong and doctor-to-be, Student Idalia Leon enjoyed, as always, an enriching experience.

Right after the WVC, Dr. Wong embarked on another learning experience this time in South America. Lima, Peru was the meet point city for another international event. Veterinarians from twelve different countries met for the advancement of their practice in the revolutionary field of veterinary arthroscopy during BlueSAOLatam’s first Veterinary Arthroscopy Workshop having as leaders two of the best worldwide renown surgeons and pioneers in veterinary arthroscopy: Dr. Brian Beale (USA) and international reference Dr. Jose Luis Martinez Moran (Spain).

During the second week of April, Dr. Leon attended a Master Course on Feline Orthopedics in Mexico City by AO VET. AO VET is a non-for-profit organization that represents a global network of surgeons, scientists, and other professionals highly specialized in the field of veterinary surgery of the musculoskeletal system, a clinical division of the AO Foundation.

This month, our team will be attending a Master Class by INTRAUMA – an enterprise that designs and manufactures internal and external implants. They are dedicated to research and development of materials and production techniques and constantly collaborating with surgeons broadly experienced in traumatology in the idea of redefining medical products and technologies to respond to new paradigms.

The agenda including the events mentioned can only be attributed to a deeply embedded commitment to continuing education and its impact on the improvement of the level of care offered to the patients of the facility that houses this group of animal health professionals.

Kudos to Servicios Medicos Veterinarios team and hooray to all of us who can rely on them for the care of our furry loved ones. Be sure to check out their ad in every issue of this paper.
