This November, we’re making it ridiculously easy – just get on the bus! Pack your passport, stuff your pockets with dog treats, and leave the driving to us!
November 9th – 12th, Barb’s Dog Rescue is hosting our first “Pawsport to Rocky Point” adventure – a three-night, four-day getaway from Phoenix to Puerto Peñasco aboard a private motorcoach. Our travelers will depart from BDR’s Peoria adoption center on Monday morning and head south for four days of Rocky Point fun – with transportation, accommodations, meals, and plenty of activities included! Rocky Point, Here We Come!
Guests will spend three nights at the beachfront Peñasco del Sol Hotel & Palamidas Casino, with daily hot breakfast included. We’ll kick off night one in true Rocky Point style with a sunset cruise on the Sea of Cortez, complete with snacks and drinks. After the cruise, we’ll venture out to dinner with a view! Spend the rest of the evening enjoying your beachfront hotel or trying your luck in the casino!
Welcome to Barb’s Dog Rescue
On Tuesday morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then get back on the bus for a day trip to Barb’s Dog Rescue! You’ll tour our campus, learn more about what happens here every day, meet our team and, most importantly, spend some time with the real stars of the show—our dogs. The itinerary includes time to volunteer, give out some love, and experience firsthand the work being done at BDR. Many of you who follow us on social media have seen the rescue through our photos and videos, but experiencing it live and in person is something truly special – prepare to be dazzled! Yes, there may be tears, but they will be tears of joy and gratitude…visiting the rescue is an emotional experience, no doubt. You’ll get back on the bus with a full heart, and the satisfaction of knowing that you made a dog’s day—they LOVE visitors (and treats)! You’ll enjoy some downtime on Tuesday afternoon before dinner…take a nap, hit the beach, and plan to head out for evening festivities and another delicious meal at around 5pm.
Wednesday—the world is your oyster!
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend the day doing whatever you want! Soak up the sun at your beachfront hotel, take a long walk…the options are endless. Today is your day! Wednesday evening will feature a BDR-themed dinner at Grapes & Barley. Learn about our history, hear about our plans for the future, hobnob with our board members and staff, and partake in an evening of joy and celebration, all in honor of the Mexi-dogs!
Thursday – Shop till you drop!
One more breakfast before we check out of our oceanfront accommodations and head to Rodeo Drive for a shopping extravaganza in one of the city’s most famous and unique neighborhoods. Time to get your souvenirs! We’ll depart Rodeo Drive at around 11am, make a stop in Ajo for lunch, and make our way back to AZ in the comfort of our fancy bus. We should be back in Peoria by about 4pm.

The Pawsport to Rocky Point trip is November 9th – 12th, 2026. This is a fundraiser for Barb’s Dog Rescue – a first-of-its-kind excursion that we’re so excited about! The cost is $1,750 USD for a single traveler or $1,600 USD per person for couples, and includes private round-trip motorcoach transportation from Phoenix, three nights at Peñasco del Sol, daily hot breakfast, three dinners, the private sunset cruise, and the BDR experience. Full payment is due by October 24th, and a minimum of 25 travelers is required for the trip to take place. If we don’t get to the magic number of 25 travelers, BDR will issue full refunds to all who’ve paid.
Grab a friend, pack a bag, and come experience two things we love very much: the beauty of Rocky Point and the magic of Barb’s Dog Rescue. We’ll provide the bus. Rocky Point will provide the sunsets. And the dogs? They’ll provide the welcome.
