Make a Gift of Love

Tis The Season…Again

Last month, we talked about how blessed this year has been for Barb’s. But, even with the generosity of last month’s matching donation program and great support from the Bikers’ Rally, we continue to run low on food and medicine. But mostly, we are out of room.

No Room at the Inn

Most of what Barb needs (food, medicine, new or used blankets, towels, puppy pads, bleach, cleaning supplies, money to pay vet and electric bills) can be quickly satisfied by donations. Space…not so much. We have exceeded our capacity, and there is now a waiting list. Tourism decreases in the winter months. Incoming dogs are needing more care. And the number of dogs wandering the streets of Rocky Point or to be rescued from kill shelters remains the same.

Most of the incoming dogs arrive in poor physical condition. They are under nourished and dehydrated. Many are infested with ticks and parasites. Other may have more serious injuries that require immediate medical attention. At the same time, our nursey is filled with mamma dogs and their liters, and more will be coming this month. Puppies must stay in our care for at least four months (five for females) to be weaned, have their shots, and be spaded or neutered before they can be adopted.

We are transferring as many dogs as allowed to adoption shelters in the U.S., but it is heart breaking when we have to turn dogs away because we are full.

Gifts for the Holiday Season

There are many ways to help during the holidays. Are you struggling to find the perfect gift for that dog-loving friend who has everything? If so, consider making a donation to Barb’s in their name or purchasing a Barb’s Dog Rescue Calendar. It will be a gift that keeps on giving. Do you shop on Amazon? You can shop on Amazon Smile instead and select Barb’s Dog Rescue as your charity of choice. When you do, we receive .5% of each purchase you make. And, if you are visiting or make Peñasco your permanent or Winter home, we are asking you to make a gift of love. Spend an hour a week socializing our puppies. Foster a motherless pup. Help us transport pups across the border. Adopt one of the older or special needs dogs. You will surely gain as much as you give from this experience.

Please visit us online at http://www.facebook.com/BarbsDogRescue or our website:  www.BarbsDogRescue.org or Barb’s Mexico cell: (638) 114-1659    or U.S. cell: (602) 774-1578 Email: barbsdogrescue@gmail.com

We are thankful for all who have opened their hearts and their homes to adoption, have contributed food, supplies, money, or who have made purchases through Amazon Smile. Thank you to those who have made Barb’s the recipient of your annual philanthropies. We could not continue the good work we do without your support. And for that, we are grateful and thankful 365 days a year. Happy holidays from our families to yours!
