Last month 20+ members of our Rotary Club attended the District Rotary Conference in La Paz. We were there in full force to invite all the Rotarians in our district to attend next year’s conference in Puerto Peñasco. Yes, we will be hosting the 2024 Rotary District Conference right here in Rocky Point. The Conference will be May 2nd thru the 5th 2024 and we are expecting around five hundred attendees from our sister clubs in Mexico. However, because Rocky Point is such a popular destination spot, we are also hosting District 5495 from Arizona. We are combining these two groups to have a spectacular showing for our community. We anticipate 800+ participants at this event next May. I will have more information about this conference in my article in the months ahead about costs, how to register and the conference agenda…stay tuned!
At the La Paz conference our following Rotarians were recognized for their years of membership in Rotary: Bill Baker 40 years, Dr. Sally Downey 30 years, Eduardo Vazquez 10 years, Pedro Martinez 10 years, Henry Gerome 10 years.
The Puerto Peñasco Rotary was also recognized as a club of excellence. We also found out that we will now have an Interact Club: This is a club that meets at the local high school and serves students ages 15-18. It will give many high school students an opportunity to learn more about Rotary as well as opportunities to participate in service projects in our community.
As a club, we continue to seek service projects and areas in our community that need our help. We also continue to coordinate activities with visiting Rotary clubs and Rotarians that visit our town.
