As the migration begins and many of our winter guests begin returning to our little slice of paradise, we Rotarians want to welcome everyone back!
This summer our Rotary club has started the planning for our Rotary Mexican/US joint district conference which will be held in Rocky point May 2-5, 2024. We are expecting between 800 and 1000 Rotarians to attend this event. It will give us a chance to acquaint many first-time visitors with all of the activities that take place in our community.
This new Rotary year we will have a new location for our club. We will continue to meet every Wednesday at 9:00 AM, but the new location will be at the Playa Bonita Seaside Salon. This is a newly renovated facility on the Playa Bonita hotel grounds on Sandy Beach. Starting August 23rd our meetings will be at Playa Bonita, so we hope to see you there and look forward to you meeting our new President, Jerry Cáñez. Last month we had 4 exchange students from Peñasco head to France, Taiwan and Hungary and we will be receiving 4 students in exchange from Denmark, Germany, Brazil and Hungary.
As many of you are familiar and have been great supporters of our annual polio plus fundraiser. This year the date, which is still to be confirmed, looks like October 19th. We hope many of you will join us for this annual dinner and continue to work with us to do what is necessary to eradicate polio around the world. We are also talking about a possible golf tournament and other fundraisers in order to raise more money to continue the fight against rickettsia along with other issues that might arise in our community. This is already shaping up to be a very busy year for the Rocky Point Rotary Club and with the support of many friends I know it can be a very successful year!
