Isn’t November a beautiful time of the year in Puerto Peñasco? It is also a very busy time for our local Rotary Club. We recently partnered with Vista America, and Hope Alliance to provide vision screening and eyeglasses to 250 individuals in need of glasses. It was such a wonderful service project and thanks to several optometrists and ophthalmologists we were able to provide this necessary screening. Also, a great big thank you to the local Chamber of Commerce for the use of their facility for this event!

As always, this Fall, we hosted our annual Polio Dinner. We join hands with all the Rotaries around the world to raise money to keep the disease of Polio dormant. We must continue to provide vaccines and education in third world countries so this dreaded disease is no more!

Our club voted to purchase two defibrillators; one will be given to the Red Cross and one to the General Hospital. The cost for the two was $3000 dlls. It is a goal of our district to provide 30 defibrillators throughout the district. Our two new purchases will be matched by the district, so we already have four on our way to thirty.

It has been a real joy to welcome our four exchange students. Each student has provided the club with a presentation about their home country and their future plans. Our students this year are from Hungary, Brazil, Germany and Denmark and are all outstanding young people. They have all settled in with their host families and are attending school in Rocky Point.

November 18th is another date to mark on your calendar! We will be hosting a golf tournament at the Links at Las Palomas.

As always, we love to invite new members and guests. If you would like to attend a meeting, we meet every Wednesday morning at 9am at Playa Bonita in the Puesta Del Sol Restaurant. I am also available to answer any questions you might have about Rotary, just give me a call (480) 612-5783 Dr. Sally Downey. Service above Self, what a wonderful way to live!
