I want to start by wishing everyone the happiest of New Years!! As we plan our Rotary activities and events for 2024 we know how much our success depends on YOUR support.
As we plan the Annual Rotary Fish Bowl for February 10th we can pray for nice weather, but more importantly we must have your participation so please mark your calendars for the Feb. 10th and join us at the Shrimp Park for a “Taste of Peñasco”. We will have the top restaurant in our community participating. IF you have attended this event in the past, you know what a fantastic day it is! This is a major fund raiser for our Rotary Club, and we put a lot of work into this event so that all of our supporters will enjoy a wonderful day.
Our club along with a partnership with a Rotary Club in Park City Utah is writing a global grant. This grant if received will focus on prevention of Rickettsia/Rocky MT. Spotted fever. This is a huge health threat in our community and the financial help from this grant will really enable us to get a handful on this disease.
Before the end of the year in 2023 we conducted our annual business meeting and elected Luis Alberto Altamirano as our president elect for 2025-26. The last activity of the 2023 year was the luncheon we provided for the residents of Casa Hogar. We do this every year; and we not only provide lunch to the residents but we also provide Christmas gifts. Everyone enjoyed the traditional soup cocido. This special meal is requested by the residents each year.
Just a reminder that Puerto Peñasco Rotary will be hosting the Annual District Conference this year, this was in La Paz B.C. last year. This year’s conference will be held in early May and will also involve United States clubs. If you have a Rotary friend in the U.S. invited them down for the May 2-5 event.
