An incredible event has been planned, complete with food and drink, live music from the Purple Onions, specials, lots of Barb’s swag, and most importantly, cute doggies available for adoption. There will be plenty of opportunities to honor this great lady and to share your favorite Barb stories. Our supporters are some of the best people ever, and in addition to celebrating Barb, we would like to celebrate all of you who have supported the Rescue through the years. Let’s pack the place! Some Have Waited So Long
When you enter the gates of the Rescue, one of the first things you encounter are the pens of precious puppies. Understandably, some visitors never make it past this area. But what is beyond is a true testament to the love and dedication at the heart of what Barb created. Here you will see some of our longest residents. They are often big, sometimes showing the scars that come with life on the streets of Mexico. Their eyes never leave you. Their barks are a call that pleads, “Can you please stop and look at me? I have love to give too.”
“They said his waiting was over.
They said he was finally going to his own home.
His tail was beating as fast as his heart.
They said there would be a nice soft bed and
space for him to run.
They promised pats on the head and doggie biscuits.
They said it was ok that he was big, and old,
and damaged, Because they said he would be loved.”
Are you the person who can provide a happily ever after ending for one of these long-time residents? If so, visit the Rescue any day between 10 am and 2 pm. There are so many dogs ready to meet you. Not only will you be another Barb’s Dog Rescue hero, but every adoption opens up much needed space for others waiting to be saved. Until then, they continue to wait.
There is never a fee to adopt, however donations of any size are much needed and graciously accepted. Every dog is fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Paperwork to facilitate crossing back into the U.S. is always provided. Adding a dog to your family can’t get any easier or cost effective than that.
And Now…
Barb’s mission of ending homelessness and suffering among the dog population in this part of Mexico will go on. Her memory will forever be a beacon of hope for a better world where all dogs are treasured.
