What A Great Time!!!

HO HO HO!!!!!!!! Happy December Rocky Point and welcome to the holiday season. Such a great time to give special thanks to all of our friends, family and loved ones. After these past two years, it is an extra special time to be grateful, thankful and celebratory as we roll into …….gosh, can it really be………2022! Yes, we are well into “the 20’s now”. Unlike a century ago, these are not the roaring 20’s when people were so happy and carefree. We have had some challenges and had to adjust our lives around Covid. Let’s pray for a swift return to complete normalcy in the coming months. 🙂

As of this writing in early November, the Rocky Point Bike Rally has not gone down yet as it is coming up later this week as it starts on November 11th and runs through the 14th. Thank you to my friend, Tony Ballesteros for all the fabulous photos from Bike week here in Rocky Point. Tony is known as one of the premier photographers in town and his photos regularly appear in the Rocky Point Times. I thought it might be fun to get a perspective of Rocky Point and Bike Week from a consistent patron of Rocky Point especially at this time of the year for Bike Week, so I sat down with my friend Maureen Buchanan for a few questions………….

Marco: Hi Maureen……. Can you tell our readers a little about yourself and your husband, Dale?

Maureen: I have been in real estate for the last 16 years and I’ve lived in Payson for the last 15 years. I grew up in Mesa, Arizona and moved around to different states in the U.S. My husband, Dale owns his own construction company in Payson, and we have 5 children and 9 nine grandchildren so we live a full life with wonderful family.

Marco: Que Bueno! Now, that’s a family! How long have you been coming to Rocky Point for vacations?

Maureen: We have been coming to Rocky Point for the last 16 years and this will actually be our 15th Motorcycle Rally in Rocky Point……..we only missed last year due to Covid.

Marco: That’s awesome! It sounds like you started making Rocky Point your getaway around the same time as me and realizing I wanted to spend more and more time here. What do you like best about Bike Week?

Maureen: The people are so friendly and it’s one big party……like one big family. We see old friends each time we go and always end up meeting people from all over the U.S. and even from other countries as well, and by the time we leave each year, we have new friends. We also love the food and the concerts of course, and we like to see how much Bike Week helps the economy in Rocky Point. I also love to see the charity bike run that they do that raises money for the community as I am a big fan of giving back. We heard the 2019 rally had over 10,000 bikers…….that’s a lot of money coming into the community :)!

Marco: Where are your favorite places to hang out in Old Port when the motorcycles come roaring in?

Maureen: Tekila Bar and Boo Bar are our favorites although there are so many to choose from. We like these two establishments best because, like most people in Rocky Point, the owners are friendly, and they have become friends with us over the years. Both of their atmospheres are super fun, and you can always count on a good time!

Marco: Ah, I know the places and the owners. Do you own some motorcycles?

Maureen: We own Dyna Wide Glide, a custom Sportster and a side by side. We always take them down with us and ride them all over town for the week and are thrilled to be a part of the Rally in the Malecon each year.

Marco: The bands are really in abundance all over town on bike week. What are some of your favorite bands?

Maureen: Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers of course, Mogollon and the Black Moods!

Marco: Aww, I really like them too as well as The Patty Plenty Pleasure Band. What are your favorite things about Rocky Point?

Maureen: The beach for sure and the friendly people. We really like the culture and the laid-back way of life. It’s always refreshing to chill when we are in town as Dale and I work a lot with our careers.

Marco: Have you ever considered making Rocky Point to live other than vacation?

Maureen: Yes, it’s definitely a consideration for when we retire. We may want to purchase a second home or condo and who knows, you may be my neighbor!!!

Marco: Well, that would be most awesome. Thank you, Maureen for sharing your personal insights on our beach town and specifically Bike Week. I hope to see you and Dale in town soon!

Well, I hope you all had fun at Rocky Point Bike Week 2021! Here’s to an incredible month and a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. And remember Rocky Point, Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is God’s gift, that’s why we call it the present!!!

ADIOS AMIGOS

GOD BLESS!
