As our Rotary, year comes to a close, and we begin with our new leadership, and new projects. I want to begin by thanking all of the wonderful people of Puerto Peñasco for their support. Last month, over the 4th of July holiday weekend, our Rotary Club assisted with a dental clinic over a three-day period. Dental procedures, consisting of cleanings, extractions, and fillings, were performed on over 300 patients. This dental clinic, Project Smile, happens two times a year thanks to the assistance of a Utah dental school and many volunteer dentists. This is such a wonderful service to be able to offer to our community and it benefits so many people.
We recently had a new election of officers and our president for the 24-25 Rotary year is: Jesus Alfonso Morales Felix, Chuy (a nickname) and his Board are busy, prioritizing projects and events that he wants to take place during this forthcoming year. We are in great hopes that we will be able to once again host the Fish Bowl, the Saturday before the Super Bowl – which is always a fun event!
Our Rotary Club continues to look for projects that will benefit the community. If you have any ideas as a reader, please let me know. This is the time of the year we plan our calendar…sometimes our best projects are a result of our community, letting us know of the needs that exist. Also, as always, if you’re interested in volunteerism and being a part of Rotary, we would love to have you come to a meeting. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9AM at Puesta del Sol Restaurant at Playa Bonita on Sandy Beach.
