Feliz Agosto Rocky Point! As of this writing in July, the weather has still been fabuloso and not too hot or humid. Rather, it has been warm and windy which keeps things cooled down especially along the beaches and shores. What an amazing summer it has been so far…I had a wedding in New Orleans, 9 days in Mykonos, Greece and I am leaving for Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Finland for two weeks starting in a couple days. Then, I have a family trip to the Amalfi Coast and onto Capri for 10 days. It is always a blast to travel and see new places and new faces and make new friends and learn about their culture just as visitors do when they come to Rocky Point!

A first special shout out to Leo and everyone from Leo’s Bar for always showing us a good time…if you have never been, Leo’s Bar is located near the Catholic Church in the Malecon on Alcantar Street. The bar usually has live music and is an outside bar covered by a large tree. It really has a unique vibe to it, and you can always be assured of bumping into old friends from around Rocky Point each time you go. The fresh squeezed margaritas are some of the bests I have tasted anywhere in town. Thank you, Leo and the gang, for being wonderful hosts!

A second summer shout out goes to Sara and Scott Macdonald for hosting their pool party. The food, drinks, band and of course the pool were all amazing. I loved seeing all of our old friends and catching up. It was really fun driving back with Maru, Tomas, Jozey and even Maurina who was a bit under the weather. Maru and I have been Mexican buddies for over 20 years…always a blast with you Maru and fun to share some drinks at the Sky Lounge on Sandy Beach…fun atmosphere, great views and drinks! Thank you again Sara and Scott…it was super fun!

Lastly, a shout out to Encantame Towers for a fun homeowner’s party over the weekend. It was great meeting new faces and homeowners as well as Josh and Stephanie…new homeowners to be. The fireworks show on July 5th (it was planned this way) was some of the best fireworks I have ever seen! It was super up close and personal…bang, pop, bang-bang, crackle-crackle, BANG!

I will return next month with some interviews like my normal format if only I can stay in town for a while, but it is time to travel especially when the humidity and higher temps kick in. And the world-famous Rocky Point Times Photo Contest is coming up later this year. We all get an opportunity to send in some photos from around Rocky Point and there are always great prizes for the winners for restaurant and bar owners around Rocky Point. Always remember, you gotta be in it to win it! Lastly, some beach phrases for you that hopefully help you to really appreciate our beautiful beaches…

  • Seas the Day.
  • Vitamin Sea.
  • Don’t worry, beach happy.
  • Eat. Beach. Sleep. Repeat.
  • Long time, no sea.
  • Happiness comes in waves.
  • Sea You Soon.
  • Shake Your Palm Palms.
  • If There’s a Will, There’s a Wave.
  • Party Like a Lobstar.

ADIOS AMIGOS, GOD BLESS
Marco
