The dogs hope you are having a wonderful start to 2024! We are overjoyed that the border has re-opened, and we need you to come and adopt a precious pup! The month-long closure brought several owner surrenders to us, as well as a higher-than-usual number of strays, several of which were pregnant moms, or moms with brand new puppies. We are vetting, spaying and neutering, vaccinating, and loving on dogs like crazy over here, but we can’t continue to take new dogs in unless we have good humans to give them homes! Our dream, our miracle scenario, would be to have so many adoptions that we’d actually have some open space at the rescue! Please consider coming to visit us, and as always, keep spreading the word about our rescue. We have dogs of every age, shape, size & personality – from big to little, to new puppies to regal seniors, we’re sure we can match you with a new best friend!

We are excited about our newest project – an addition of a full-blown dog park next to the rescue! We are prepping the property now, fencing it, adding sally ports for extra safety, and the dogs will be playing in a true Doggie Disneyland in no time! We are looking for fun, safe objects to add to the park to further stimulate our dogs – things for them to jump on, run through, and that will hold up in the intense desert sun. If you have anything you’d like to construct or donate, we would love to hear from you! Please send an email to barbsdogrescue@gmail.com.

We have so many dogs that would benefit from life in a foster home! Shelter life can be chaotic, and some dogs struggle with this environment. We also have dogs that require more specialized care due to medical conditions and would love for them to have more individualized attention. If you’d like to become a foster for Barb’s Dog Rescue, please contact us! We will happily supply all the food, soft beds, toys, and everything else you might need for a positive foster experience.

Finally, we always welcome and appreciate visitors – our dogs get so excited when humans come to visit! Bring the family and spend a little time loving on our precious dogs! If you’d like to volunteer to help with feeding or tending to other tasks at the rescue, we would love that too. We are open seven days/week, from 10am-4pm.

Thank you to all who love Rocky Point and provide such essential support to our mission to save the street dogs in our community – we couldn’t do our work without you!

Odin was the great magician among the gods and the protector of heros

Meet our Odin – You could search the world over from top to bottom and won’t find a sweeter or more gentle boy than our Odin. Odin is 1 ½ years old and 70 lbs. of pure love. He was born here at Barb’s and is the last of his siblings to find his furrever home. He’s a very shy boy but only until he gets to know you and feels safe. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his beautiful body…truly one of a kind with his gentle temperament and exceptionally calm personality. He needs a special home one that understands that it might take extra time for him to feel comfortable and safe in a new environment. Remember he’s been here his entire life. He will need reassurance, patience and love. Odin gets along great with other dogs and it would be wonderful if he could go to a home with another dog to help him with confidence and to adjust and learn. He’s at the tip top of the VOLUNTEER AND STAFF FAVORITE list here at Barb’s. If you’re truly a dog lover, then please ask about Odin. He’s been waiting too long for that perfect home. Many happy tears will be shed at Barb’s when he finds it.
