Just a few miles north of town sits a beautiful, magical place where doggie dreams come true. Come experience the joy that is Barb’s Dog Rescue! The fun starts before you even get out of the car…when the dogs see people pulling up to our gate, the joyful barks begin and the anticipation of the pets they know they’re about to receive fill the air! Your tour will start in our front yard, where you’ll meet dozens of playful, happy pups who will welcome you with their waggly tails and sloppy dog kisses. But wait…there’s more! Our staff will continue your tour around the rest of our amazing rescue, through paths and walkways where around every corner you’ll meet big dogs, small dogs, old dogs and young dogs, moms who are caring for their adorable babies, and dogs with special needs that are being lovingly tended to. Along the way you’ll meet lots of friendly human faces as well, who will share our dogs’ stories with you, fill your pockets with treats, and guide you through a heartwarming experience that you’ll never forget. It’s like Doggie Disneyland over here!
If you meet a dog that you’d like to spend more time with, our staff will help you have a more intimate one on one experience in our dog park, where you can really get to know each other.
We all know that dogs make vacations even better – if you meet a dog that you’d like to take for a walk on the beach, or even for a night or two, we will jump for joy (so will they), and we’ll provide you with everything you need to give a dog a break from rescue life. Vacation upgrades happen all the time, and if you decide to take your new friend home forever, we will provide you with everything you need to bring your new family member to freedom in the USA! All of our dogs are vetted, sterilized, vaccinated, and ready to cross the border.
Visitors are a critical component to our dogs’ social and emotional development. We need you to help show our dogs that human hands and hearts are kind. Please be a part of our village – if you’d like to volunteer, we will put you to “work” (it’ll be the best work you’ve ever done). If you want to simply swing by to get some love, we’re here for it and you will have the time of your life! If you’d like to donate, we need all things dog (food, toys, treats, beds, towels, sheets, leashes, etc.) and those items can be brought to our donation area at the front gate, or at several local restaurants who will happily accept items for Barb’s Dog Rescue (Borracho Cantina, Banditos, Grapes & Barley, and Wrecked At The Reef).
For almost 25 years, Barb’s Dog Rescue has been saving and finding loving homes for the street dogs of Rocky Point and surrounding areas. We are eternally grateful for the love and support we receive from our people, and hope we’ll get the chance to show you our appreciation by giving you a tour and allowing you to see for yourself – live and in person, the house that love built.
